Polis, providers of a smartphone app purpose-built for optimizing door-to-door canvassing initiatives, is expanding operations after a $1.3 million seed round led by the business development incubator, Jennus Innovation. According to a story in BostonInno, the TechStars start-up is opening a new location in Salt Lake City, and “has hired Brett Nielsen to head the new office. Nielsen was previously SVP of strategic partnerships and business development at BestCompany.com.” The Polis app was originally designed to improve door-to-door political canvassing operations, but now it is also used to generate leads, perform opinion surveys and close sales in the energy, security, solar, telecommunications and retail industries. Polis uses a patented optimization algorithm to automatically generate the most efficient walking routes for door-to-door canvassers, enables canvassers to knock on 10% more doors, and automatically handles data collection and analytics to make any door-knocking campaign easier and more successful.
