Marketers, as we’re moving to the end of the year, what are you putting in your stacks?

For those of you new to marketing technology stacks, marketers are building stacks on CabinetM to help them plan, manage and collaborate around their marketing technology. Stack Insights offer up the wisdom of the community building stacks on CabinetM — trends in technology, categories of tools, even names of stack layers.

When we look at stack data for the month of October, we see a few new trends:

  • Social Media Marketing is tops. While analytics is often the top category for marketing technology, this month there were 25% more products added to stacks from “Social Media Marketing” than the next category, “Web Analytics and Optimization.”
  • When it came to layer names, however, the most popular was “Analytics” – more stacks had an analytics layer than any other layer name.
  • The most popular product was Google Analytics.
  • Google Adwords was #4 in popularity among marketers building stacks, a higher ranking than we often see that product.

What does this all mean? While MarTech stacks are like snowflakes, and there are no stacks that are exactly alike, there are trends that are emerging. Analytics is often on top and as social media platforms flex, grow and contract, there are new products being added to the marketer’s toolkit.
